Pastor Wilson or Caught in the Garden of Good and Evil: The Allegory

There has been talk of a viral video on Social Media regarding a Texarkanna Texas Pastor engaged in an act of explicit sexual nature. Many of the replies are that of a comedic nature. However, “nature” is something that this article will address. As Freemasons, when we, who raised based on Rituals thick in allegories and parrables, we should be versed in those. This presentation is about the allegory of the Garden of Eden in the Genesis Book of the Bible.

Let’s first provide a couple of definitions to assist for further reading.

Allegory- a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning.
Carnal- relating to physical, especially sexual, needs and activities.

It is presumed that everyone reading this has background of the story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. The story is normally interpreted as one of innocence, disobedience and punnishment. The story in short form of the innocent text refers to the two living in Eden and being instructed by God to not eat from the Tree of Life under penalty of knowing Good and Evil. It is the story of the Serpent who persuaded Eve to taste the fruit and then give it to Adam. It is the story of God punishing Adam, Eve and the Serpent for disobey his orders.

Here are some thoughts on the Characters and props:

“Forbidden Fruit… What Forbidden Fruit?”
Has anyone noticed that in the Bible, regarding this story, there is no mention as to what the Forbidden Fruit is? Many a Sunday School or other systems have taught that the forbiddenfruit was an apple. It made sense as a kid, it was red and very delicious. Again however, the fruit was never defined in the text.

Knowledge(Eating of the Fruit)
The root of the word Knowledge is “know”. It is always good to have knowledge. However in the Old Testament to which the Garden of Eden story, “to Know” means two people engaged in sexual intercourse. This evidence is used numerous times in the Bible.
Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. ” Genesis 3:7
Sexual intercourse does promote a conciousness that at first seem like embarrassment. In Masonic Catchechisms, the fig leaves represent the Masonic Apron, which, in this case is a badge of chastity.
“Let us be clothed”

The Serpent
The Serpent was the one who taught Eve knowledge(Sex). Some of the early Gnostic writers believed that Serpent impregnated eve with Cain, not Adam

Serpent:“Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?”
Eve: ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’”
Serpent: You will not certainly die, For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.

How many times since this instance, man has coerced women into this type of “Knowledge”?

The Penalties
Since the forbidden fruit was the woman’s womb and intercourse was the eating of the fruit and the knowledge was embarassment and nudity, God doled out penalties which affect us to this day. God was the one who sanctioned Sex and man trying to achieve that power costs.

So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this,

Serpent’s Penalty
“Cursed are you above all livestock
    and all wild animals!
You will crawl on your belly
    and you will eat dust
    all the days of your life.
 And I will put enmity
    between you and the woman,
    and between your offspring and hers;
he will crush your head,
    and you will strike his heel.”
Eve’s Penalty
I will make your pains in childbearing very severe;
    with painful labor you will give birth to children.
Your desire will be for your husband,
    and he will rule over you.
Adam’s Penalty
Cursed is the ground because of you;
    through painful toil you will eat food from it
    all the days of your life.
18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you,
    and you will eat the plants of the field.
19 By the sweat of your brow
    you will eat your food
until you return to the ground,
    since from it you were taken;
for dust you are
    and to dust you will return.
